Set against the spectacular lakeside surroundings of Lough Erne Resort, this year’s conference offers dedicated lecture streams for both farm and small animal practitioners, delivered by recognised specialists with extensive clinical, academic and industry experience.

Transition, Nutrition & Herd Efficiency

Farm vets can explore the theme of Transition, Nutrition & Herd Efficiency with RCVS Recognised Specialists in Cattle Health & Production John Cook and Jonathan Statham. The programme takes a practical look at the challenges that directly influence modern herd performance, from transition-cow management and heifer fertility to feeding strategies, herd efficiency and monitoring transition and resilience.Cook brings extensive experience working directly with large dairy farms to identify barriers to health, fertility, and productive performance, while Statham combines three decades in clinical veterinary practice with senior academic, research, industry and animal health and welfare roles.

Immune Mediated Disease & Blood Transfusions

For small animal vets, the focus turns to Immune Mediated Disease & Blood Transfusions, led by Karen Humm, Associate Professor in Transfusion Medicine and ECC, and Craig Breheny, RCVS & European Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine.The programme addresses the clinical questions practitioners face when managing some of their most challenging patients: how to investigate anaemia, when to transfuse red cells, how to monitor transfusions, when to use plasma and platelets, and what’s new in feline transfusion medicine. emolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, immunosuppressive medication, anaphylaxis, pyrexia of unknown origin and rarer immune-mediated diseases areal so on the agenda.
