Down vet to face RCVS disciplinary hearing

Co Down vet, Dr Stephen Cargill Wilson will face charges later this month when he comes before a virtual sitting of the RCVS disciplinary committee.

Dr Wilson is accused of disgraceful conduct in a professional respect in that he provided incorrect details to insurers Tesco Petclaims in relation to the clinical history of a Labrador dog which presented at his surgery in Banbridge with a lame left foreleg. It is alleged that Dr Wilson told the insurers that the dog had been presented on June 13, 2017 when, in fact, it had been June 7 and that his actions were dishonest and/or misleading.

A further charge alleges that between January 17, 2017 and January 17 the following year, Dr Wilson did not have adequate professional indemnity insurance in place, and that between January 8 and December 5 last year, he failed to respond to reasonable requests from the RCVS for information in relation to these arrangements.

The online disciplinary hearing will be held on September 28 and 29.
