In 2023, the Vet Service further expanded our support for the profession by launching the Titanic Vet Show. This event focused on actionable change, featuring speakers who deliver practical solutions for enhancing well-being and communication within veterinary teams. The success of the Titanic Vet Show is a testament to the Vet Service mission of supporting not only career development but also the overall wellbeing of the veterinary community.

May 2024 welcomed the second ‘Titanic Vet Show’, a well-attended event with delegates coming from across the UK and Ireland. This unique and exciting event focussed solely on key important topics facing the veterinary profession today – mental health support for the entire veterinary family, how to improve communications skills and talk effectively to each other and how to manage and support people within the profession. There was also a really thought provoking round table panel discussion on the key areas which we need improving to make the veterinary workplace a more productive safe space. Speakers at the 2024 event included Dan Tipney (VetLed) Des Rice (CCO), Katie Ford (Vet Empowered), Adrian Nelson-Pratt (VSGD), Emma Cathcart (VDS) and Chloe Hannigan (VetYogi) along with Sue Paterson and Kate Richards from the RCVS. This 2024 event was even more successful than the previous year. The Titanic Vet Show demonstrates how various teams can work together, make a positive impact and create an even tighter network where members of the profession know they can be supported.

Like 2023 the Vet Support organisation was the sole beneficiary of the proceeds from the event.

Vet Support started as a pilot in Northern Ireland where 11 veterinary surgeons and RVNs underwent a selection and training programme which was funded by the RCVS’s Mind Matters group. The volunteers deliver a peer support and coaching service. Demand has grown significantly and now, rebranded as VetSupport.me the service is available throughout the UK and Ireland.
