Experts take the reins at online equine welfare conference

CAFRE’s Enniskillen campus is hosting an online equine welfare conference on the 11 March, open to students and the industry.

Among an impressive roster of speakers are Dr Matilde Valenchon from Bristol Veterinary School who will discuss ongoing research in Thoroughbred racehorse welfare and Dr Orla Doherty from University College Dublin who will address equine welfare in equitation.
Other topics up for discussion include the links between equine sports science and animal welfare and equine assisted learning and how horse/human interaction affects welfare.
In addition to a line-up which also includes Dr Roly Owers, chief executive of World Horse Welfare, there will also be an after lunch session offering a virtual tour of the Active Turnout facilities which have been developed at Enniskillen Campus in the last couple of years.

Attendance at the event will count towards CPD for BHS Accredited Professional Coaches and pre-booking is essential as places are limited.

There is no charge to attend, however participants are required to register by the 4 March 2021.
