Byotrol Shares Best-Practice Biosecurity Knowledge
						CPD-accredited ANIGNE Training Course
Specialist antimicrobial technology company, Byotrol, has announced the release of a free best-practice biosecurity training course to support the end-users of its market-leading ANIGENE veterinary surface disinfectant meet their annual CPD requirements. Developed by Byotrol’s team of biosecurity experts, the course contains both scientific and clinical insights, informed by decades of experience.
In busy veterinary or animal welfare settings, it can be hard to dedicate adequate time and resources to biosecurity training, however ensuring your team is trained on the products used in your practice is vital, as the directions for use, risks, and performance of disinfectants vary greatly from product to product.
While many animal health professionals are required to complete continuing professional development (CPD) annually, accessing these can be challenging due to time or family commitments, location, or cost. Byotrol’s new course is free to complete and equates to 2 hours of CPD. Accessed remotely and featuring an inclusive mix of video, presentations, voiceovers and downloadable resources, the course is designed to bring best-practice expert knowledge to every user in a flexible format.
Training is essential for professional users of biocidal products, which can be hazardous if handled improperly, putting the health and safety of people, animals, and the environment at risk. Accurate and effective disinfectant use reduces the risk of outbreaks of infectious diseases, which can result in the cull of infected animals, site closures, a reduction in revenue, and the distress and ill-health of your team.
Some disinfectants can have adverse environmental effects if mis-used or not disposed of correctly. Proper training and regular recaps can help to reduce chemical waste, providing both environmental benefits and cost savings. Trained professionals are less likely to waste products by under or over-diluting them. Understanding the correct dilution rates and what personal protective equipment is required when diluting disinfectants can reduce the risk of skin irritation, eye damage, and ensures disinfectants perform as users expect.
Byotrol invites all animal health professionals to visit the Byotrol website to enrol on the course and access this valuable resource to improve their biosecurity knowledge and support the responsible and sustainable use of ANIGENE veterinary surface disinfectants.
Jane Kiely, Head of Marketing at Byotrol, said:
“Providing end-users with thorough training is essential for the safe, sustainable and effective use of disinfectants, and crucial for the success of any biosecurity strategy. A key element of improving the sustainability of disinfectant use is improving biosecurity compliance, as using disinfectants more efficiently reduces waste and minimizes the risk to the environment. At Byotrol, we’re proud to invest in training to ensure that ANIGENE users are aware of the risks and are using our products appropriately, protecting people, animals, and the environment.”
Stacey Bullock, Veterinary Nursing Quality Manager at LANTRA, was delighted to be invited to preview the course:
“I would love to see this feature on induction checklists in every part of the animal industry! A great starting point for all infection control advocates and a base for unified biosecurity. I think it is perfect for the wider audience and can imagine a great asset to inductions in to practice or those starting to devise SOP and protocols in practice!”
