Forte Healthcare Introduces Canine Behaviour Month
to Support Practices at Every Stage of the Behaviour Journey
Canine Behaviour Month runs throughout June
Canine Behaviour Month is a new educational initiative from Forte Healthcare designed to encourage greater awareness, education and conversation around behaviour in first-opinion veterinary practice.
Throughout June, veterinary practices will have access to a wide range of educational support through the dedicated Canine Behaviour Month website. This includes 13 on-demand webinars featuring leading experts in veterinary behaviour, alongside a live webinar on 15 June. The webinar will be presented by renowned veterinary behaviourist Dr. Katrin Jahn, DrMedVet, CertVA, MANZCVS (Veterinary Behaviour), DACVB, DipECAWBM (BM), MRCVS, RCVS & EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine, titled: “An Introduction to Psychopharmacology – One Puzzle Piece of the Veterinary Behaviour Treatment Plan.”
The Canine Behaviour Month website also features an interactive online assessment tool designed to help practices identify their current educational needs and quickly guide them towards the most appropriate educational support. By answering four simple questions, “Where Are You on the Behaviour Journey?” practices can assess their current stage within the behaviour journey. Once completed, practices can book an appointment with their local Forte Territory Manager, who will tailor a follow-up educational support appointment to suit their individual needs.
The aim is to support veterinary practices as they progress through the behaviour learning pathway, helping teams become more confident in managing appropriate behaviour cases in-house as part of their veterinary services or knowing when to refer to a behaviour professional
The Where Are You on the Behaviour Journey? includes four stages:
Starting Your Journey
- Aware of behaviour issues but not yet confident in managing cases
Building Confidence
- Beginning to recognise signs and triggers, with at least one team member comfortable discussing behaviour
Practice Competence
- Clear internal behaviour protocols in place and successfully managing behaviour cases in-house
Behaviour Advocate
- Multiple team members, confident managing behaviour cases while proactively educating clients and promoting behaviour awareness as part of preventative care
Speaking about Canine Behaviour Month, Dr. Lucy Chadwick MVB ACIM CMktr GPCert(B&PS) MRCVS, Global Partnerships Manager & Head of Technical Services, said:
“Behaviour cases are increasingly presenting in first-opinion practice, yet many teams still lack the confidence, structure or resources to manage them effectively. Canine Behaviour Month is designed to support practices wherever they are on that journey; whether they are just starting to engage with behaviour or already leading in the space.”
