New learning partnership for veterinary managers

CPD offerings help fulfil VMG's 2021 'learning' pledge

The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) has announced a learning partnership with the Veterinary Business Academy of Romania (VBA).

As part of the agreement VBA members will also gain access to the VMG’s range of continuing professional development (CPD) and can apply for Associate membership of the VMG at preferential rates.

The VMG is the UK’s leading representative body for veterinary professionals working in leadership and management roles.

The not-for-profit organisation made “learning” one of its strategic priorities for 2021 and vowed to focus on “the development of 21st century leaders and managers for the veterinary sector” through outstanding training and development.

VMG Junior Vice President Georgina Hills, below, said: “We are keen to partner with global associations with similar values because we have the same end goals – healthy animals and happy, motivated veterinary teams.  We are delighted to form this partnership with the VBA and to share our resources with them.

“Effective leadership and management are key to the success of veterinary businesses globally, especially as they start to emerge from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Learning and sharing collaboratively with colleagues and other associations is the best way to ensure global progress in the development of these important non-clinical skills.”

Dr Cristian Marinescu, below, who set up the VBA in 2017 to increase the competency of veterinarians in areas such as people management, marketing and financial planning, said: “Given the VMG’s experience in the business and people aspects of running a veterinary practice, we believe this partnership will help us to develop more quickly and offer a higher level of support to our members.

“Vets in Romania are keen to develop non-clinical business skills and we will use the VMG’s resources to deliver dedicated training and resources to support them in the day to day running of their businesses.  It is an exciting partnership and brings to fruition the idea of a veterinary community without boundaries and supportive of diversity and inclusion.”

The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) is the professional association for all those in leadership and management roles in the veterinary sector.  Its mission is to inspire and empower veterinary leaders and their organisations to learn, share, and grow.
