BSAVA takes CPD programme online

BSAVA takes CPD programme online

A comprehensive programme of virtual regional CPD is to be launched by the BSAVA in September.

Regions Now, a series of 12 online events which have been organised by each the BSAVA’s regional committees, including Northern Ireland, will run until March 2021. Each event will begin with a pre-recorded 1-hour introductory lecture, available up to a week before the main live session.

The main attraction of Regions Now will be a 90-minute session involving a live lecture delivered via the Zoom app, and a question and answer session with the main speaker. For a week after that session, there will be an online discussion forum allowing participants to offer observations about the lessons learned and describe their own experience in handling cases with relevant disease conditions.

Beckie Smith, who has helped create the programme of online training in her role as BSAVA’s chair of regions says: ‘One of the main attractions of the Association‘s regional CPD activities is the sense of community that has built up around the local groups, which gather the various regional meetings. This is something we are keen to maintain as we adopt new approaches to CPD provision in the virtual world.’

The programme will begin with a focus on feline infections which includes a lecture by BSAVA President, Professor Ian Ramsey. The online content for this session will be available from the week beginning September 7, ahead of the main event on the following Monday.

The sessions are free for BSAVA members and £50.00 (incl. VAT) for non-members. Members of the particular region hosting the event will be given priority booking for that event although the events are open to members around the country.
