NI vet practice offers safe haven for schoolchildren

A veterinary practice in Co Antrim has offered their premises a safe haven for children as the new school term gets into swing.

Firmount vets sent a message to the community in Antrim to let pupils and parents add them to their list of safe spaces and they even offer to provide a phone charging service if kids find their battery is low.

In a post on social media, they said: “With schools returning and the darker evenings approaching, we would like to let all parents and children know we are a safe space.

“If your child misses the bus home, tell them to call in and let our reception know.

“They can wait with us until they get picked up. We have phone chargers they can use.”

Firmount Veterinary Clinic is based at 53 Belfast Rd, Antrim and the reception is open from 9am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.
