New NI office for FarmLab Diagnostics

NI veterinary practitioners can now send samples for diagnostic testing to the Enniskillen office of FarmLab Diagnostics.

The company has been providing diagnostic testing to veterinary practices in the Republic of Ireland and the UK since the business was established by vet and managing director, John Gilmore, in 2012. Since then, the firm has grown considerably and now offers a complete range of tests for mixed veterinary practices. Popular tests include microbiology, parasitology, elisa tests, PCR tests and biochemistry.

The laboratory is accredited for a range of veterinary tests including IBR, BVD, Leptospirosis, CEM.. It is a designated laboratory for NI disease control programmes and is accredited for both blood and milk antibody elisa together with faecal PCR testing for Johnes Disease. With increasing interest in whole-herd screening for Johnes Disease, FarmLab Diagnostics courier-collected testing service provides a cost-effective solution for both farmers and vet.

FarmLab Diagnostics offers a range of biochemical tests including mineral profiles and metabolic profiles. Metabolic profile testing is an extremely effective tool in intensive dairy farms in the monitoring of a number of nutritional aspects. Veterinary practitioners are increasingly seeing the usefulness of metabolic profiling in monitoring negative energy balance and hypocalcemia on farm.

FarmLab Diagnostics’ website has a dedicated vet login area where vet practices can access client results and details of tests and prices. The vet login can also be used to generate customised reports for practice customers using the vet practice’s details/ logo and comments.
